About
My work is polyphonic. Having the "feeling of being in the impulse, in the uncontrollable, and in the fate of repetition" is the form and substance of my reflection and action. Interested in forms of non-communicative language, my work began with sound poetry and performance and is increasingly moving towards deaf, sometimes mute, sounds through painting, drawing, sculpture, and sound installation. The frontal aspect of recent pieces is associated with a strong non-Western tradition of representing space, such as Mexican murals. If, for the West, after the Renaissance, the space of painting and drawing is built with lines of perspective, welcoming the Other in a more or less comfortable place, other presences, especially among the Tupinambás of Brazil, take a more radical stance, that of the plane. In my pieces, I don't open windows, I build markers instead: between nature and the human, between the mother tongue and the voice, between the figurative and the motif. These markers tension these singularities. All of this happens on the plane, in two dimensions (no to the past-present-future. Yes to the past that never ceases to return in the Here). No refuge possible, no saving message, the human is confronted with this constant return. The repetition in each of my pieces evokes a counter-time - that of the repetition of prayer, of the scansion in ritual, of the sacred, unlike the non-human time of the exciting new, when minimal gestures are made until they create a sound mass, where language loses its communicative function and returns to its origin: that of the continuous beating of the tides, that of the wind in the canopy, in the backcountry. Symphony of noises. This eternal return inevitably creates a pattern, a wallpaper tending towards infinity, able to cover virtually all possible surfaces, whether by sound or by line. This paradoxically creates silence by excess. I wonder myself if this silence is in the process of creation or if it reaches the exhibition space.
